This small, inner-city front garden in Middle Park uses various sized Australian bluestone steppers from Bamstone. The overall style of the garden is informal, however the plantings are structured.
Mass-planted perennials provide impact and make the courtyard feel bigger than it is. This is with the exception of three Westringia 'Wynn Yabbie Gem', shaped into balls, that have been randomly placed throughout the garden to soften hard edges. The upperstory of maples shade the lower plantings and help incorporate the house into the garden.
The artwork chosen by the client also adds a great point of interest to the garden, whilst giving a contemporary twist to the Victorian house.
